• New ley mixture for extended grazing includes Timothy for extra palatability and early season growth

Limagrain UK has extended its range of Matrix Enhanced Ryegrass mixtures for extended grazing systems with the introduction of a new mixture which includes Timothy grass for extra palatability and early season growth.

Matrix Enhanced Ryegrass is a festulolium which starts growing at lower temperatures than perennial ryegrasses, and so provides an extended grazing season. It has been bred for rotational grazing systems.

Limagrain’s Ian Misselbrook explains: “Timothy also starts growing earlier in the season than ryegrasses and so makes a good companion grass for Matrix. It’s very palatable and also very hardy and will grow well even in heavy clay soils.

“In our Sinclair McGill and Monarch ranges of ley mixtures, Matrix is teamed at different inclusion levels with perennial ryegrasses and white clover. This new mixture contains 40% Matrix, 15% Timothy, 35% late perennial tetraploid ryegrasses and 10% white clover.”

Matrix leys mixtures can be found in the Sinclair McGill range and Monarch ranges of grass mixtures, marketed by Limagrain UK. For more information, farmers should contact their local seed merchant or call Limagrain UK on 01472 371471, or visit www.limagrain.co.uk
